The vibrant culture of Võru County is enriched by the Setomaa municipality on its southeastern edge. A great insight into the life and culture of the Seto people is offered by the museums in Värska, Saatse, and Obinitsa, and Estonia's military heritage can be explored at the Värska Visitor Center in Reegi House and the North Camp territory. In the Orthodox Setomaa, churches and chapels (tsässons), as well as ancient religions and traditions, hold significant places, exemplified by Miikse Jaanikivi and Jumalamägi.

In Värska, a promenade leads to a sanctified spring and the harbor invites activities on the water. Värska is famous for its mineral waters and therapeutic mud, and 2021 marked the 50th anniversary of Värska being designated as a resort area.

The region hosts many events, the largest being the Seto Kingdom Day in early August. Gourmets should try the Seto Feast Day, music lovers the Seto Folk, and those interested in traditional singing the Leelo Day.
