Feast of St. Paraskevi, the martyr, is the most important event of the year for the people of Saatse area in Setomaa. The day begins with a church service in the lovely Saatse St. Paraskevi Church (Russian Orthodox) that is over two centuries old and the home of the famous protected wooden icon 'The Story of Parakseva Pyatnitsa'. After the service, Seto tradition requires that a meal be had on the graves of the loved ones. Feast of St. Paraskevi is also the 'kirmasepäev' of Saatse – a traditional Seto village party with singing and dancing.
The guests are kindly asked to come in small groups and to respect the local customs.
